Had the chance to visit the Inamo restaurant in Soho London at the weekend, its projected interactive tables made the dining experience seriously fun. You could play games on your interactive table, change the look and style of the projected patterns on it, as well as browsing the entire menu, previewing dishes by projecting them on the plate in front of you. Whenever you were fancied something, you could just add it to your order and the waiter would bring it as soon as it was ready, well worth the trip to check it out.

The Power of Making’ at the V and A museum in London celebrates the role of making in our lives by presenting an eclectic selection of over 100 crafted objects, ranging from an enormous wooden mech suit, spray on dresses, woven wicker coffins, lady gaga hats made of hair and puppets from the ‘fantastic mr fox’ movie. An enormous metallic gorilla made from coat hangers guards the entrance to this cabinet of 21st century curiosity, its well worth the free trip to check out the most experimental craft techniques of the 21st century!

Ready Player One is a fantastic futuristic adventure set both within a near future dystopian America and a utopian online virtual reality game known as the OASIS. If this wasn’t cool enough the author Earnie Cline has blended all this together with a plethora of nostalgic 80′s pop culture. The story is on one hand an epic quest to unlock secrets hidden within the massive online game and claim the reward of a lifetime, to become the owner of the OASIS itself and stop an evil organisation taking control. Whilst on the other hand it presents us with a real world which is dying, whose economical and ecological collapse is ignored by a global society plugged into a virtual distraction. Earnie Cline tackles these two worlds with superb imagination and sensitivity, as only a passionate gamer could, pointing out both the problems and wonderful opportunities of online worlds. Ready Player One is exciting, funny and thought provoking. Check it out!
